Like thousands of good ol’ boys and girls I like nothing more than getting on my bike on a day off and riding nowhere in particular to end up with a mug of tea or coffee in my hand to warm the winter blues away.
Yes, getting out on the black stuff to ride to some biker cafe where other like minded souls will congregate is a passage of rights! It is something we have a duty to do, otherwise where else would we ride too?
However there is a mighty flaw in this cunning plan. It requires that you not only remember to take your wallet with you but it means you will have to blow off the cobwebs and dust to pay the princely sum for said warm beverage…at least it’s not as expensive as some coffee chain mock Italian offerings.
So the question on your lips is where to ride your motorcycle and end up in a motorcycle destination where you are likely to get free coffee? Well the answer may have been staring you in the face all the time but you dare not venture to try it out for fear it may put extra pressure on your purse strings.
Yes, many motorcycle dealerships will give you free hot drinks and sometimes even support that gesture with biscuits and cakes depending on the day, time and whether they’re feeling really generous. However this gratuity is not really for motorcycling vagrants and vagabonds but mostly for would be customers or returning ones too.
Perhaps a bike has been brought in for a service and the complimentary drinks are there whilst you wait. It could also be the ice breaker the salesperson uses as they turn on the charm to entice you onto a new ride. In any case there is a reason free hot drinks are served and it isn’t really a free for all but you might just have it within you to play the part and swag that hot mug of goodness.
The game is appear to be interested in whatever products and service they might be offering but not take the plunge. It may mean you having to interact with hopeful yet sceptical salespeople but with a wince of a dry throat, the faux necessity of a quiet place to reflect and a warm drink to clear the head, the caffeinated cherry could be yours to savour.
The only question now is which dealership has the best tea and coffee and is it still better than paying for one too.
