TVS partners BMW Motorrad to develop EV Motorcycles

Indian motorcycle manufacturer TVS will continue its association with BMW Motorrad to develop electric motorcycles and scooters.

After the success of their last three year collab on the BMW 310, it appears that TVS are ready to enter the EV market with some considerable support from the German firm and they will put their technological brains together to not only produce EV bikes but enter the market at a price point that will be affordable for TVS domestic markets and we assume for the European streets too.

The major manufacturers have been criticised for being rather late to the party with any EV offerings, with the exception of Harley-Davidson. This has also given rise to the plethora of tech start ups that have been creating electric motorcycle or scooter projects with many notable models having been released to the market.

However their issue is the price to the customer which is still regarded as too high in comparison to internal combustion engines, however as the larger manufacturers can bring their considerable might and lower economies of scale to produce more motorcycles and scooters with comparable unit prices which will really see the sector take off.
