LiveWire Begin Del Mar Deliveries!

This from LiveWire Motorcycles

LiveWire; the spin off electric motorcycle company from Harley Davidson have finally started to make deliveries of the new LiveWire Del Mar Launch Edition in the USA.

The S2 Del Mar is LiveWire company first motorcycle under its own banner but is the second bike in their range. With the LiveWire One being their official first EV bike.

The original Harley-Davidson LiveWire was priced at nearly US $30,000, but when rebranded and sold as the LiveWire One, it came with a much lower price tag of US $23,000.

The LiveWire Del Mar, US $15,500, is particularly aimed at urban riders and those seeking cleaner environmental rides for shorter distances.

With an advertised 113 miles (181 km) of city range and a 63 kW (84 hp) motor, the bike goes from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.1 seconds.

The Del Mars are initially being delivered under the Launch Edition bikes, which is a limited series of 100 individually numbered motorcycles that were pre ordered last year.

LiveWire however is still stalled at the first hurdle in not only product delivery but also competing in the marketplace with other already established EV manufacturers.

Zero Motorcycles have a good presence in the US and Europe whilst Energica from Itlay are showing great promise and technology in their ever growing market share too. This is not to mention all of the other start up companies and major manufacturers who are just starting to come online with their EV offerings.

The question here is not whether LiveWire technology and product can match or even exceed that of the competition but rather will they sell enough units for the company to become a true going concern and whether H-D will remain patient with it barely smouldering embers.
