The talk of the motorcycle town for some time has been what offerings Harley-Davidson will make for 2022 and much has been speculated ahead of the official model launch towards the end of January.
The new model line up is a closely guarded secret and not even a whiff of disgruntled employee leaking information or whistle blowing some deep dark corporate secret has emerged.
However we do know that the 2022 bike colour samples were made available some time ago, which led to much hyped speculation amongst social commentators and content creators. We also know that the 2022 bikes have already been produced and are starting to pack out the storage bins waiting for dispatch.
However the first bikes that will reach the dealerships and mostly in the US and Canada, in early January will be what are referred to as ‘rollover bikes’ These are motorcycle models that will not have any changes from 2021 to 2022, albeit they might have new colours.
There will be much of the Softail and Tourer line up that will be delivered as well as the Sportster S and Pan American models without any changes. Those models or variants that are classed as ‘new’ or that have substantial changes or offered with changed components will not be delivered until the model launch date.
There has been some confusion doing the rounds in recent months with some speculating that they already have purchased 2022 motorcycles, but in fact are either buying…or rather pre ordering rollover 2021 bikes or 2022 bikes without changes.
As for the rest of the world and the lesser markets, dealerships could expect to see some official 2022 models arrive in the spring with 2021 rollover bikes already hard to come buy and not likely to be acquired at all. In fact unless some motorcycles are already in stock or in the country, it is highly unlikely that dealerships will be able to offer to sell any new bikes for quite a while.
However, come launch date you can expect a flurry of interest from prospective customers and perhaps some dealerships getting some early new year intel on what is to come.
As for the official 2022 bikes, in the US and selected larger dealerships, you can expect these to arrive towards the end of January at the very earliest and around the world, some time later.
