Norton Motorcycles Go Back Into Production

Since Indian motorcycle company TVS bought the rights to failed Norton Motorcycles, many have been wondering when they would go back into production in their new facility which is claimed could produce up to 7000 unit a year when fully operational.

Some time ago Norton announced their aims and aspirations about the kinds of motorcycles they would like to produce in the future…a mix of lifestyle and performance branding to rival other similar tagged brands, however these were just aims…the question would be when would we see actual motorcycles rolling off their production line and what would be the means of purchase.

Well it appears that they have started production of their 961 Commando Classic which will be available in due course and the reengineered V4SS is now likely to go into production in the last quarter of 2021.

There is no news as yet of other motorcycles or new designs, nor is there any update on the future of the Atlas either, however from an external observer’s point of view the Atlas would be my pick to get riders drooling over.

As of now it appears the only interest you can show is via the website and there is no mention of any dealership network for the future, however the headache of the previous administration is still pounding.

Of course this is a new company and the issues of the past are not necessarily the responsibility of the new set up but there are still hurdles to overcome in terms of public perception and those old Norton owners affected by the collapse of the old Norton company.

However as the new company drives forward under the Indian TVS umbrella, one can only imagine what models will be available and for which markets too…and at what price point? Will they offer premium engineering and premium pricing or will they offer a range of models to suit the variation of wallet sizes.

We eagerly await!
