The very cool retro styled Maeving RM1 is being offered for sale either direct from the company or from their boutique outlets for a limited time only with a very fashionable roll top pannier…for free.
I’ve long been a fan of this British EV bike producer because the vintage chic married to modern electric mobility with swappable battery tech is the perfect combination…and this comes from somebody who isn’t even really sold on the whole electrification narrative either.
However I am a huge advocate of using electric bikes for urban mobility and lower powered bikes up to 125cc equivalent or 11kwh…and the Maeving fits this perfectly. It is also where I see the best value in electric bikes. As soon as the power increases, so does the price which is usually beyond the reach of those who would like to ride and even those who are fully sold on the electric mode…so the 4-11kw or 50cc-125cc equivalent is the sweet spot.
When I first saw the Maeving at a show a few years ago now, it was an instant attraction and whilst I haven’t actually ridden one, just from the tech and appearance alone, I would easily put pen to paper if I were to choose a smaller EV bike and perhaps would encourage me to go on a diet too as the max payload is 119kg, but that has to factor in any other added weight too.
So this leads neatly onto the pannier which is exquisitely mounted on the mid left side of the bike, but wait for it and you will lose out. As the offer for the free bag ends this coming Sunday at midnight. So if you really want a Maeving RM1 with a cool bag to fit on the side, then now is the time especially if you have a reasonable £5995 to spare.
