BMW Motorrad is taking R 18 customisation to another level by launching an International Custom Championship, with the grand final of the competition being held this September in Berlin.
BMW Motorrad markets around the world will host national qualifying events, from which the two R 18 custom builds rated as the most popular in a public vote will proceed to an international semi‑final. Six teams will then be selected by a jury, along with a further finalist determined by public vote, before the grand finals in Berlin.
Seven bikes from the UK will go head‑to‑head in a national heat that was officially launched at the Bike Shed Show last month. Thousands of attending bike enthusiasts were able to see all seven R 18 customs, which have been built by BMW Motorrad UK retailers and customisers.
Participants have the freedom to use original BMW Motorrad accessories, third‑party products, or develop their own parts from scratch ‐ provided the motorcycle remains safe to ride.
The public can vote for their preferred build until 14 July.
