Triumph motorcycles have launched their intentions to get into the off road motorcycle world of MX and Enduro riding…and there could be production bikes as early as the beginning of 2022?
The off road market has been steadily growing for the last few years and the recreational use of off road capable bikes has gained in popularity. Lightweight off road capable bikes are where many, including myself, see the best methods of achieving true adventure and fun in the dirt or sand.
So why have Triumph decided to not only dip their considerable toes into the dirt bike pond, but actually go full throttle and dive head first?
CEO Nick Bloor commented; “This announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for Triumph, which everyone at Triumph is incredibly excited to be part of.
“We are 100% committed to making a long-lasting impact in this highly competitive and demanding world, with a single-minded ambition to deliver a winning motorcycle line-up for a whole new generation of Triumph riders.”
Triumph are clearly not messing around here as they have also announced their intentions to produce bikes and compete in the racing applications too. To that end they have teamed up with MX and Supercross GOAT Ricky Carmichael as well as former 5 times world enduro champ Ivan Cervantes to help them design and develop these new bikes.
Carmichael and Cervantes appear to be really excited about the prospects and have applauded their experiences with Triumph engineers and designers already. Triumph management are equally complimentary about the two former race stars too and what it can mean for the development of these new bikes.
Of course Triumph is no stranger to producing off road bikes as their prowess was notable in the 1960s with legions of fans around the world, however this is the first time they are ventured into purpose built off road bikes since their re emergence in the marketplace.
We will look forward to future announcements form the company.
